  1. Chop Suey!
    Wake up(wake up)
Grab a brush and put on a little make up
Hide the scars to fade away the shakeup
(hide the scars to fade away the shakeup)
Why’d you leave the keys up on the table
There you go create another fable
    You wanted to
Grab a brush and put on a little makeup
    You wanted to
Hide the scars to fade away the shakeup
    You wanted to
Why’d you leave the keys up on the table
I don’t think you trust in my self righteous suicide
I cry when angels deserve to die (die)
    Wake up
    (wake up)
Grab a brush and put on a little make up
Hide the scars to fade away the shakeup
(hide the scars to fade away the shakeup)
Why’d you leave the keys up on the table
There you go create another fable
    You wanted to
Grab a brush and put on a little makeup
    You wanted to
Hide the scars to fade away the shakeup
    You wanted to
Why’d you leave the keys up on the table
I don’t think you trust in my self righteous suicide
I cry when angels deserve to die
    In my self righteous suicide
I cry when angels deserve to die
    Father, father, father, father
Father into your hand I commend my spirit
Father into your hand why have you forsaken me in your eyes
    Forsaken me in your thoughts
    Forsaken me in your heart
Forsaken me Trust in my self righteous suicide
I cry when angels deserve to die
    In my self righteous suicide
I cry when angels deserve to die

I actually had to have a little bit of help with these lyrics. At first, I thought this was probably about a girl that didn’t trust him, but then one day while I was in my room listening to this song, a specific line just stayed in my head, “Father into your hand why have you forsaken me in your eyes/Forsaken me in your thoughts/Forsaken me in your heart.” I remember that when I was at catechism, they were showing us Passion of the Christ. When Jesus was dieing on the cross, he said something along the lines of “Why Lord have you forsaken me?” Maybe this song was talking about why Jesus had to die, he could do something other than this. It says in the song “I don’t think you trust in my self righteous suicide/I cry when angels deserve to die” I was thinking that line was Jesus telling the singer to trust in his death that it was for him. Then I thought the phrase, “I cry when angels deserve to die” meant he couldn’t he choose another way instead of the cruel crucification? I was thinking that’s why the phrase connected so well with “Grab a brush and put on a little make up/Hide the scars to fade away the shakeup/(hide the scars to fade away the shakeup)/Why’d you leave the keys up on the table/There you go create another fable/You wanted to” I was thinking that stanza was meaning he did things because he wanted to. Jesus knew this was coming, and he did so because he wanted to. But I was telling one of my friends the trouble I was having with this song, and he said he knew Serj Tankien–the lead singer of System of a Down, who wrote the lyrics. He said this song was about how alone you feel when thigs around you are falling apart. That explains way more than my interpretations. T.T Kids, stay in school, or you can and up retarded like me.
