What are Diamond Poems?
Diamond poems consist of :
Line 1: A noun
Line 2: Two adjectives describing the noun
Line 3: Three verbs that end in -ing that tell what the noun does
Line 4: Four nouns that go with the noun inline four does.
Line 5: Three verbs ending in -ing that tell what the noun does.
Line 6: Two adjectives describing the noun in line 7
Line 7: A noun that means the same thing as line 1

What is an Opposite Diamond Poem?
Line 1: A noun
Line 2: Two adjectives describing the subject
Line 3: Three verbs ending in –ing that describe line 1
Line 4: Two words that are similar to line 1 and two words that are antonyms of line 1
Line 5: Three verbs ending in –ing that describe the opposite subject in line 7
Line 6: Two adjectives describing the opposite of line 1
Line 7: A noun that is the opposite of line 1

What is an Acrostic Poem?
A poem that explains one word, defining the first letter in the word across.
Example:
D.arling protector
A.lways there
D.istinctive character
C.urious
A.ctive and
T.ense animal
Alliteration: When I think of alliteration, I think of the two ll’s in alliteration. Alliteration is the same kind of sound at the beginning of the word. For example, “Sally sold some seashells by the sea shore”. The use of alliteration does not have to be at the beginning of every word, and adds more of a sense of rhythm to the poem.
Assonance: As if the opposite of alliteration, assonance is what happens in the middle of the word, or a repetition identical or similar vowel sounds, also focusing on the use of stressed and unstressed syllables in a word.
